a.testoni presents the new AW12_13 collection
Minimal Baroque inspiration for the new collection from the Bologna-based brand.
For AW 12_13 a.testoni introduces a hint of seventeenth century madness to its contemporary minimalism.
a.testoni flirts with creativity and sophisticated details for the AW12_13 collection, with a playful nod to a cultural movement known for its vivid focus on style. The Bologna-based brand takes its inspiration from the period, creating new, light flights of the imagination to produce unique creations, which in this collection are more unusual than ever.
The shoes and leather goods for the coming autumn-winter season are therefore distinguished by a design with simple, clean lines, yet adorned with bold contrasts, decorations, trim and materials with a baroque feel. The result is a series of highly elegant and refined creations, in line with the brand, yet with new and unmistakable notes of style.
For a.testoni men, in the coming AW season, soles take centre stage, acquiring larger dimensions and greater prominence: the leather sole with ton-sur-ton micro rubber midsole inlay is 2 cm thick. However, the shoes also stand out for their colours and contrasts, with seasonal shades reminiscent of the intense and full-bodied hues of the theatre, such as dark brown, pine, black and aubergine. Colourful laces, contrasting piping and uppers broken up by subtle two-tone effects provide an even more assertive and appealing touch to the more classic ranges by the Bologna-based brand.
One example is the brogue with wing cap toe and the now iconic a.testoni punch-holing, which in this new collection is presented in dark brown reversed calf, adorned with a pine coloured spiral and detailing on the upper and thick 2 cm leather soles.
The Derby shoe in antiqued calf in shaded pine also has a thick sole, as does the ankle boot in brushed black calf, with double dark metal buckle. These are amongst the models that best represent the Minimal Baroque mood. The shoes are constructed with a new shape with very soft lines, in which the simple, clean lines of the upper contrast with the prominence of the buckles and soles.
Part of the Minimal Baroque inspiration is the Neo Country-chic range for a.testoni men. This line is gently assertive with a feisty design, taking its inspiration from the country atmosphere and the harsh scents of leather, expressed in the shades of earth and autumn leaves. It includes the ankle boot and Derby shoe in the top of the range Amedeo Testoni line, created using the typical Tyrolean construction. These shoes have a mountain-style design and include a version in dark brown crocodile skin with welt edge detail in the shade of pine, which stands out particularly. Perfect for after ski wear or city use.
The leather goods also follow the theme of the collection, presenting a new range in ultra soft tumbled calf, with practical external zip, available in the multi-use maxi bag, laptop case, shoulder bag and messenger bag versions. A new addition to the leather goods range is the all new a.testoni Bologna range, dedicated to the brand’s city of origin: a line with full, rounded shapes, such as the two-tone messenger bag and laptop case in casual calf in the shades of pine and dark brown, and also the practical rucksack in black or dark brown nappa leather.
For the coming AW season, the a.testoni woman seeks consistently high levels of elegance: Minimal Baroque for women is also expressed in simple, clean forms, adorned with fine materials and unusual details. The a.testoni woman is extremely chic and refined, yet decisive and not afraid to play with more assertive colours and accessories. Examples are the mountain boot and lace-up court shoe in snakeskin and cashmere fur, with a rich variation of tones of aubergine, with matching handbag. The high-heeled mountain ankle boot in black crocodile skin also has aubergine trim, to be worn with the handbag in black crocodile skin and crocodile print fabric. This fabric is new for the season and a.testoni has also used it to create a low-heeled boot.
The women’s day wear range is very extensive: including boots and ankle boots in soft aubergine patent leather with rubber soles and high-heeled lace-up court shoes in two-tone pine and dark brown calf, to be worn with the little handbag in plait print calf in the same shade. The richest detail is the new tapering shape: a metal toe with honeycomb pattern punch holes adorns a court shoe and a sling-back, in the vintage calf versions in the colours of the season or in fine black pony skin, with matching honeycomb quilted mini busket bag.
Evening wear, on the other hand, is all about flocked fabric, screen printed with a honeycomb pattern, in elegant black, available on the open-toe sling-backs or the ankle boot, with matching handbag with dual handles and vintage clasp.
Lastly, the new a.testoni Bologna collection has been designed for women too: practical messenger bags with double buckles that play on the contrasts between matte calf and patent leather detailing, in the shades of aubergine, smog and black with honeycomb pattern print.
